Breaking Dawn part 1 follows Bella as she finally gets married to Edward Cullen. They have a perfect wedding and then go on a perfect honey money... that is, until Bella realizes she missed her periods which makes her pregnant, with god knows what.

Being a fan of the books I was really looking forward to this one, I didn't really care for Twilight and New Moon. Eclipse was fine but it really didn't do the book any justice. I went in after reading many reviews of disappointed fans, so I braced myself to be disappointed also. I could have not been more wrong! I LOVED it!! I thought it was PERFECT! (yes, perfect!) I loved every bit and pieces of it, and will probably be going to see it again until it comes out. My only disappointment is that we have to wait 1 year for Part 2! The acting was way better than in any of the previous movies. I was worried with Taylor Launter who hadn't really been much more than just a pretty face with a ton of muscles. Even though it probably could have been better, I believe him and felt his emotions (especially that part where he cries, OOPS SPOILER! Yeah I cried too).

I thought Kristen and Edward could have had a bit more chemistry but I was so roped into the story and what was going to happen next that it didn't really matter to me in the end. Rosalie's hair looked bad as usual, no surprise with that. Emmett was just as handsome as I remembered him. Bella's father was just too cute. And well, the wolves were OK. I don't like the actress they picked for Leah, but I don't like Leah as a character anyway, so I guess she was doomed to begin with in my book.

I don't want to reveal too many details here, go see it for yourself. I loved it and I will be seeing it again. I can't wait for Part 2! The best is still to come!!

Romantic comedy starring Anna Farris and Chris Evans. It's based on Karyn Bosnak's book 20 Times a Lady. The movie was released on September 30th, 2011. "Ally Darling, who thinks she will always be single, looks back at her past ex-boyfriends to find the best one."

Basically, Ally (Anna Farris) is looking for the one man she will be spending the rest of her life with. Due to certain circumstances (which you will find out about in the beginning of the movie), she wants to find that man into one of her exes, so she asks for Colin's (Chris Evans, who is Ally's neighbor) help into finding them.

I really wasn't expecting much when going in to see that movie. One of my girl friend and I decided to have a girls night out, dinner, pedicure and then a movie. So we picked What's Your Number? since it seemed to be light and funny, we didn't want to be getting into anything too deep and serious.

I was pleasantly surprised! I had my doubts regarding Anna Farris. She was pretty good, she had most of the funny lines of course, but her character is very easy to relate to! Only little hitch was through out the ENTIRE film, every time there was a close-up shot on Anna Farris' face, I couldn't help but ask myself what the hell happened to her upper lip? Totally unexistant!! It bothered me the whole movie... Other than that she was fine!

And I have nothing (zero, niet, nada!) bad to say about Chris Evans. The man is a good. I'm sorry Ryan Reynolds, Chris has officially taken your spot at the top! Ever since I saw him in Captain America, I asked myself why had I never paid more attention to this man. He's PERFECT! Literally. /end of celebrity crush.

I recommend this movie to every ladies!! Go see it, it was great!

X-Men First Class

X-Men First Class picks up many years before the previous movies. It tells the story of the first X-Men coming together as a team and their struggle to fight against evil together. While I don't think this is exactly how Marvel originally wrote it, in this movie, you learn how Magneto and Professor X became friends, and later rivals. You also learn about Mystique, Beast, Havoc and several others.

I enjoyed this movie. I'm an X-Men fan from the old cartoons that played at midnight on Teletoon. While I was OK with the previous movies, I thought this one was far better. I liked their choice of actor 10 times better for a start. (Storm is my favorite X-Men and I hate that they picked Haley Berry, there are MUCH better actresses out there. But all the other ones sucked too, with the exception of Wolverine and Prof X. That's just my opinion though.)

My favorite was Michael Fassbender playing Erik Lehnsherr aka Magneto. I think he was perfect in his role. I found myself feeling for him, his pain, anger and frustration. Young Charles Xavier was great also, I thought that they had great chemistry on screen.

Mystique looked great both as human and mutant, though I feel she wasn't much more than that, just a pretty face. I wasn't able to relate to her when she was struggling with the way she looks. Mutant or not, I believe every girl struggles with their appearance and self-esteem at one point (or several) in their life, myself included, and I didn't feel anything coming from her.

Havoc and Banchee were pretty cool, though we don't get to see much when it comes to their character evolving. I liked what they did with Beast, I wasn't expecting that part at all.

Kevin Bacon was horrible as usual. I don't like him as an actor, and this movie hasn't changed my mind at all. Sorry man, you just (still) don't cut it.

Over all though I liked this movie, it was entertaining, the effects were great and I liked the story and the way it developped. I liked the characters in this movie better than the other one (I came to dislike a lot of them in the previous movies. In this one, I only dislike Wasp/Angel.)

In the end, this movie was worth my 10$.

Thor: God of Thunder

Thor is your typical arrogant prince. He's strong and knows it, but it's also gone up to his head a little too much. He does something stupid and is exiled to Earth by his father, the King of Asgard.

I'm a superhero fan, even though I admit not having read many comics, I used to watch the cartoons on Saturday mornings. Before this movie came out, I hadn't heard of Thor and had no idea who/what he was. What I had heard of was Chris Hemsworth, as he was Capt. J. Kirk's father in the most recent Star Trek movie. He's in the begin there for 5 minutes but I recongnized his face as soon as I saw it. So. Freaking. Handsome.

I found he played the role very well and I believed his character 100%. Though it was Anthony Hopkins that surprised and amazed me the most. We're used to seeing him as a creep in a lot of movies, this one is totally different and made me see him in a different light. I was very glad they picked him for the role, he looked like a true king.

I found the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster was boring. There was nothing there, I didn't feel any chemistry between them. Not that I was expecting much, I mean, it IS a superhero movie after all. But after seeing Tony Starks and Pepper Pots, I was a little disappointed by this.

That being said though, I liked Thor more than Iron Man. It probably has to do with the fact I like magic, alternate universes and shiny things.

So if you were on the fence about going to see this movie, go ahead, I think it's definitely worth it. If you don't like the story, well at least you will have seen Thor/Chris Hemsworth without his shirt on.

Thor will be back in The Avengers set to come out in 2012. And you can see Chris Hemsworth in his other projects too in the mean time. (I heard he'll be playing the Huntsman, in Snow White, also coming out in 2012, totally excited about that!)

I Am Number Four

Best. Movie. of. 2011.

So far anyway.

It might be because I haven't been to the cinema much since the New Year, or because I'm a fanatic when it comes to the sci-fi story of a young (hot) male with magical powers, but I really REALLY liked I Am Number Four. I went in thinking it would be more of a kids movie than anythign but to my surprise, it wasn't!

It seems to have gotten ok reviews online (6.5/10, really?) with a good bunch of the reviewers all saying the same thing. For some reason they say the story isn't as great as it could have been, and the characters were lacking personality. Some others even went as far as saying it's "another one of those for Twilight like teenage girls". Well ok. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I saw this movie with a guy that is your typical macho (hates any type of chick flick and says no movie is a good movie unless there are cars and it goes boom boom), and even he said he liked it.

Personally, I thought the characters were well developped. I liked John right off the start. I thought Henri (Timothy Olyphant, anyone?) should have been included within the story a bit more, especially in the ass kickery department, you know, considering he's supposed to be John's guardian and all. Sam and Sarah were great additions, and Mark just really made you hate his guts.

It's light, magical, has awesome action and most of all GORGEOUSLY AMAZING visuals.

When these kids use their powers, WOAW! It blew my mind!! So much that I wish I had powers like that too. It looks very real without looking tacky.

I don't really have anything bad to say about this movie. If anyone else in this city hasn't seen it yet and would like to go, give me a shout I'll gladly go along with you. Yes, I liked it that much.

Catfish

I first heard of this movie on Ellen Degeneres' daytime show. The same day I started seeing the trailer on television. Right off the bat it spiked my interested. Is it a movie or a documentary? It is really real or is it another one of those "Blair Witch Project" type of thing?

The trailer they plaid in theaters had a critic say "The last 40 minutes will keep you on the edge of your seat!".

While it did not keep me on the edge of my seat, I quite enjoyed it. I didn't really know what to expect and I think that's the kind of attitude someone needs to have when watching such a movie. It's said to be all real, and it is indeed quite realistic, I'm 100% sure what happens in the movie has happened to others before and will continue to happen in the future as well. But weither it was really real or all fabricated just to make money, I'm not sure us specators will ever know. Film makers and actors can make us believe anything these days.

"Young New York photographer Nev Schulman lives with his brother Ariel and friend Henry Joost in New York. Abby Pierce, an eight-year-old child prodigy artist in rural Michigan, sends him a painting of one of his photographs. They become Facebook friends in a network that broadens to Abby's family, including her mother, Angela; Angela's husband; and Abby's attractive older half-sister Megan."

I encourage anyone that has even just a little bit of interest to see this. I think it could also be an eye opener for some of the younger kids and teenagers of our time.

Catfish was good. I quite liked it :)

Resident Evil: Afterlife

This past weekend I saw Resident Evil: Afterlife.


I've been waiting for it for a very long long time! I'm a big Resident Evil movie fan. I never played the games, and I never intend to. I'll watch my friends play, but I'll never play. Plans for me to have a heart attack and die. Anyway.

I really liked it! I like all of the Resident Evil movies. I love horror, suspense and zombies. Which this movie has, all of it. I noticed the reviews online are quite mixed, people either love it or hate it.

I do have to admit that the focus was put on the special effects that go with the 3D. If you want a deep storyline with characters that develop on many level, Afterlife will not deliver for you. It's about beautiful people fighting off monsters. Lots of guns, fights, special effects, blood, etc.


RE: Afterlife is the continuation of Extinction, 6 months later to be exact. Alice wants to finish all of this by finding and rescuing her friends and other survivors, as well as destroying Albert Wesker, whom was seen in the last scene of Extinction, hiding in his Tokyo Umbrella Headquarters.

They are bringing back a few characters and putting in new ones. New zombies, new creatures, new mutations. A whole bundle of fun!



But what I liked the most was the music! That movie has some REAL epic music! I was so amazed, through out the ENTIRE film, I wanted to take out my guitar (imaginary) and start rocking out on stage. No joke. Really good music!

A lot of the special effects reminded me of Matrix. And the big Axeman guy you see in the trailer (or as they call him on Wikipedia "The Executioner") reminded me a lot of Pyramid Head from Silent Hill.

But I found my heart pouding through out the whole movie, and I jumped in my seat several times too.



All in all, I give this movie 4.5/5. .5 missing because I wished it'd ended a bit differently. But overall Resident Evil: Afterlife was very good and entertaining. Definitely getting this on Blu-ray when it comes out!
