Sephora X Collabs

I'm not out at Sephora very often because it's located downtown and I really dislike going downtown, so when I traveled to Carrefour Laval, my 1st stop was the make-up store.

I love all the collaborations they have going on. Especially 2 of which I took pictures of.

First collab: Hello Kitty

I spoke of this one twice on Gossip Candy, and the merchandise looks even better than I thought it would! If only it wasn't so expensive I would have bought the whole collection.

I was going to settle for a bottle of polish but the shade (pastel pink) that I wanted was sold out :(


Second collab: Toki Doki

Toki Doki was created by an italian artist, yet I think it represents well what some of your typical japanese mascots look like.

Eye shadows... All of their packages are super cute!

Everything you see here can be found on the Sephora website and most likely at your local store... unless it's sold out of course! Do you prefer Hello Kitty or Toki Doki?

Ayu produces false eyelashes too!

I had been playing with the idea of trying out fake eyelashes for some time, probably just as long as I've been thinking about colored circle lenses. To me, they go together, but I probably won't be trying them together at the same time for the first time. Or should I?

It seems DollyWink have been very popular with western gals, so I was just about ready to order a pair or two online, when news of Ayu releasing her very on false eyelashes came out! (Yeah, yeah I know, I posted about Ayu already once this week, but what do you want me to say? This is how it works with her, she releases everything practically all at the same time! And I can't help but talk about it! It's Ayu AND make-up related.)


There are three (3) lines: Natural Days, Gorgeous Days and Royal Days, ranging from natural volume to more dramatic. Within each line there will be 12 different types of lashes.

The price is 1,480 yen per pack and each pack contains 3 sets of lashes!

1,480 yen! That's totally reasonable, don't you think?

Honestly I don't know why she waited so long to do this.

My favorite ones out of the bunch: Naturals Days no.1, Gorgeous Days no.6 and Royals Days no.7. Personally I don't care for bottom lashes so I'll be leaving these out for now.

These have been on sell at mu-mo since September 22nd, and they will be sold all over Japan starting September 30th. I haven't managed to figure out a way to order them from mu-mo.net yet (they have an international website affiliated with Tenso which gives you an address in Japan so that you may order from Japanese online websites that don't ship internationally), but you can view all of them here on the Japanese website here. If you guys know how to get your hands on these, please let me know!! I'd really like to order two or three pairs to try them out!

Hello Kitty Graffiti @ Sephora

In January I wrote a short article about Sephora releasing an Hello Kitty Collection which consisted of brushes, blushes, nails polishes, fragrances and several other items. While I quite liked the look of the Collection and took the time to investigate it in person in store, I didn't buy any of them.

While everything was very cute and good looking, I thought there were too expensive and I already had everything I needed in my make-up bag. Personally, I would have been paying for the look of the product (cases, logos, boxes, bottles) more than for the make-up itself.

Well what do you know, a second collection was released this month Hello Kitty Graffiti. With a more vibrant, dare I say screaming, look!

Similar items as the previous collections, same brush stand/case but with graffitis all over it instead and some of the brushes are tinted with different colors. A compact mirror, a new fragrance bottle and eyeshadow palette all covered in graffitis. New with this collection is a Make-Up Bag.

While browsing the Sephora website, I also noticed they have a few new items along the lines of "Memoirs of a Kitty" (2 eye shadow palettes, make-up bag, a notebook) which were not there before with the previous collection. These ones have a more feminine look with cherry blossom designs on them.

And also a "Combination set" of brushes, eyeliners and an Hello Kitty brush stand covered in Swarovski for a whopping 495$.

On July 14th, the Hollywood & Highlands Sephora hosted an event to welcome the new collection into store. The one and only Yuko Yamaguchi, creator of Hello Kitty, made an apperance. The first 125 people that made a 50$ Hello Kitty purchase received a wristband that guaranteed them a chance to meet Mrs Yamaguchi and get her to sign on of their items.

Lucky them!!

While I really like the new look of these items (especially that make-up bag! Wonder if I could figure out a way to turn it into a wallet?!), I'm still sitting on the fence, undecided if I will ever purchase on of these. I'm still dreamingly staring at the nail polish bottles, SO CUTE!

April update

Lazy April was lazy!

Apparently this year's April for us out here in Ottawa was the coldest April in 75 years! I remember just a few warmer days with sunshine, but most of it was rain and cold winds. How boring. Thus why it was a lazy month.

So much glitter this stuff gets EVERYWHERE. But I love it!
I think I'm on the verge of mastering blending two colors~

And of course there was Easter with lots of chocolates!

Micabella Mineral Make-up

Beware of long post - Image heavy

I'm not an impulsive buyer. I always give thought before buying something. "Do I REALLY need this?" "What else could I buy with the amount of money spent on this?" "What if I could find the same thing for a cheaper price elsewhere?" ... But last month I splurged and spit out a few bucks for a whole new set/kit of make-up.

Micabella Cosmetics.

Micabella is said to be 100% mineral make-up that it is hypoallergenic, fragrance free, non-comedogenic, and it is long lasting. It is also NOT tested on animals. And apparently it has a high antioxidant level to help protect skin from future damage, premature aging and reduce the appearance of damaged skin.

I heard of Micabella a few years ago, but the kiosk at my mall disappeared before I had a chance to go investigate. A new kiosk has appeared in a different mall, so I stopped buy one random day while I was browsing, what the hell, I had time to waste. The gentleman there was pushy and really bold about the whole thing. But I preferred him over the other girl working there, she didn't seem to give a crap about anything (and she was smoking outside when I walked in... sorry but, uuh no).

I get excited every time I use this make-up now, especially the eye shadows.

Why? Because you can use the eye shadows as: #1- Eye shadow, #2- Eye liner, #3- Lip balm/gloss and #4- Nail polish.

And on top, it doesn't expire (call me dumb, but I had no idea make-up, especially in powder form, expired... you learn something new every day!) and even though the little pots are the same size as the M.A.C. eye shadows, they have 1 extra gram of powder in them.

Note: I had a hard time with the lighting, so I took two sets of pictures, with and without flash. Even then, the pictures don't give justice to the colors. They are 10 times prettier when you see them up close and personal in real life.

Foundation and blush.

The foundation is super light. Of course, you feel it when you apply it but just a few seconds later, it felt like I had nothing on my skin, at all. The blush is very concentrated, so I never need lots to give the look I want, which means it'll last for a very long time.

The many eye shadow colors. Love~

I originally got the purple and the light beige/cream color to begin with the foundation and blush. Then I went back two weeks later to get 8 extra colors. Normally these go for 14.50$ on their website, but I got 8 for 80$, 10$ each!

This is the brush I use, when I want to use the shadow as eye liner. I use a flat brush, but there are different ones. One of my friend likes to use an angled brush more, her preference. Dip your brush in water, then into eye shadow and apply. Magic!

First line is the eye shadow used as eye liner. Second "line" is eye shadow applied with a cotton swab. Normally I use a brush for eye shadow, but I found it easier to use cotton swab to show the color on my skin.

I was a little disappointed the green didn't come out as green on eye liner. But the color is GORGEOUS just as eye shadow itself. Especially with hazel/brown eyes.

Same as above, first line on the left is eye liner, then eye shadow. The third and new one is lip balm!

Clear lip balm as displayed. I use a cotton swab every time when I use it. Take a bit of lip balm, then dip in eye shadow and apply. It's FANTASTIC! It's not sticky, barely smells anything and lasts super long! (Well unless you eat or drink something... but I wasn't expecting it to stay on for that.)

From left to right, lip balm, eye shadow, eye liner. The color on the right is pink, like a hot, redish pink. But it's really not THAT read in person.

The color on the right is more creamy than silver. It's the color I wear most, especially for work!

And voila! Magic! (Or I like to think so...)

To use as lip gloss, Micabella sells a clear lip gloss just as there is the balm. And for the nail polish, you can use your every day clear nail polish. Take note though, that the crystals and minerals from the shadow will likely end up in your bottle when you dip the brush back into the bottle.

I'm totally in love with this make-up. The eye shadow lasts a little longer than M.A.C., but it of course fades over time. I usually apply about two layers of shadow and find it's enough. For a bolder look, apply more, and for something lighter, apply less, obviously.
