Butterfly exhibition

Posted by Suteisi ♥ at 3:34 PM 1 comments
On the 1st week of October every year, the Carleton University in Ottawa hosts a butterfly exhibition. They receive cocoons from many countries all around the world and get around 1,300 different kinds of butterflies. All of them are kept in the humidity of their green house.

Until this year I had never heard of this butterfly exhibition but I was immediately intrigued. Not only was it free but it was open on weekends and the advertisement said that if you wore a brightly colored shirt that the butterflies might come down to rest on you. And did I mention it's free?

I invited one of my girl friends for breakfast along with D. and my mother, after our feast we headed out there around lunch time. On
October 8th, I was wearing shorts and a tank top!! I don't remember EVER having such a good day in October. Usually the weather out here is miserably cold and rainy.

(There is watermark because these are all pictures I took myself, with my camera, on my time and edited to fix the size. If you wish to use these, please ask for permission and leave the watermark on. Thank you very much~)

We waited in line about 30 minutes to get in, but we chatted and the weather was fantastic so it went by really quickly. I was super excited by the time we got inside!

Inching inside the green house...

Ready set... GO BUTTERFLIES!

I totally fell in love with these pink flowers! I must have taken 15 pictures of them alone. I'd have them all over my bedroom if I could. So pretty!!

Mom's hand... this butterfly landed on her out of no where!

These kids and there mom's had orange slices, which the butterflies really seemed to love. The blue winged butterfly is blue only on the inside, the outside of its wings were brown with creepy circle like eyes. This is one of my favorite pictures.

This one landed on my mom's leg, so it was hard to see. But the inside of its wings were bright red!

That's it!! Enough butterfly pictures for you?

Have you ever been to a butterfly exhibition? Which one of these is your favorite?

China Town in Montreal

Posted by Suteisi ♥ at 7:16 PM 6 comments
I'm on summer vacations this week and it was my birthday last Friday (July 22nd) so I've been busy enjoying my time off! I've taken tons of pictures but I haven't been home all week so I can't re-size them and post them up on here just yet.

In the mean time, here's a little post on a trip I took a few weeks ago...

D. and I took a road trip to Montreal not so long ago. We were going to the Jean-Talon market but made a quick stop at the China town there before heading out to the market.

Random pics of our walk in Montreal's little China town~

Plastic food menu in the window of an Asian restaurant!

Great place to go if you want to find random Anime toys / figures / items. Also tons of Hello Kitty stuff of course. Lots of Asian type souvenirs and food markets. But nothing very gyaru-ish. :(

'Was still fun to walk around and feel like I was in another country~

Do you have a China Town in your city?

Going with the flow

Totally bored out of our minds Sunday afternoon, D. and I drove 30 minutes to go out to Chelsea, part of the Gatineau park. There was tons of people everywhere and every parking was full, so we drove a little longer and go up close to Dunderosa which is a golf course out there.

Bingo! Empty parking lot right next to it. Off we went~

Went down the forest and a series of steps to find a little bridge and a waterfall.

I walked along the edge while D. decided to be a 12 year old kid, or some type of monkey, and jumped from rock to rock over the flowing water.

What a forest typically looks like around this area of country.

This picture is my favorite~

We were out for a good 2 hours and got a little sunburn even though we were shaded with trees for a good part of our hiking.

Have you been for a walk in the forest lately?
What was it like?

Photo apps

The past few weeks I've been experimenting with two apps on my iPod Touch (sadly I don't have the luxury of the iPhone). They're quite fun and I've been enjoying them a lot so far, so I thought I'd share.

1st: Princess Camera

This is like having a (though limited) Purikura machine in your pocket!

Snap a picture of yourself.

Then decorate it!

The stamps and decorations are limited, but they give you the option to create your own. I haven't tried it yet though, so I can't comment on that. But you can lighten or darken your picture, add frames, stamps, write stuff in your own face and all that other fun stuff a Purikura machine allows you to do. For 2.99$ I find it's a great app! I haven't used it with friends yet, but I hope to try that out soon.

Of course it's not purikura quality as I've known and seen it in Japan, BUT it's fun and you can send everything via e-mail right from your iPod/iPhone, or even post it on Facebook or Twitter.

2nd: DipTic

Lighten up, change coloring and put pictures together with DipTic! No need for Photoshop anymore!

It's quick, easy and does a pretty good job for an iPod/iPhone quality.

I used the random cute, girly things I could find in my room, but I think this would be even better for food pictures and clothes/coordinates as well!

For 1.99$ I think this app is definitely worth it.

What do you think of these apps?
Would you use either / both of them?
